Mother’s Day Celebration 2011

We love our Mothers because they are the ones who gave birth to us, fed and clothed us and raised us. Our moms taught us so much on respect and dignity. They taught us family values and their importance. They always give us inspirations to be anything that we ever dreamed of becoming...and never to give up on anything without a final try.

They taught us right from wrong and to be always true not only to ourselves, but to others as well. Our mothers’ love is genuine and irreplaceable... they will always be there for us, either to treat the bruises on our knees, or simply kiss the pain away... they listen to our problems and give us advises... nothing in this world is greater than a mother's love.

There is no doubt that they should be respected and loved because it is not an easy job to do many things as they do without expecting anything in return.

Thailand’s Queen is known to be the mother of all Thai people.  That’s why they celebrate Mother’s Day on her birthday, the 12th of August. The Queen’s birthday is noted as one of Thailand’s national holiday. On this day, not only Her Majesty is given honors, it is also the day when Thai people express gratitude to their mothers for the love and care they have given them.

All schools celebrate Mother's Day with much energy, vitality and respect to honor all MOTHERS. Children kneel before their mothers to show love and gratitude for having them. This is one of Thai traditions they practice during this day. Kids also give jasmine flowers or garlands to their mothers. White color of jasmine flowers symbolizes purity of a mother’s true love. In return, mothers give their blessings to the children. On this day, alms are offered to the monks.
